George DeNeville 5th Baron of Albergavenny, 1469-1535 12th great grandfather
George DeNeville was an English nobleman and courtier (a person who attends court as a companion or advisor to the king or queen).
He was also Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. This title is one of the higher honors bestowed by the sovereign. The Cinque ports were a group of five port towns on the southeast coast of England. That was formed to supply ships to the Crown.
He held court in St. James church near Dover castle. He kept a garrison and administrative staff including the Clerk and Lieutenant of the castle.
